Biography

Gaffer - Editor - Writer - Director - PRoducer

I got my start in the film industry back in High School in 2011. I had a friend, who would later become my film partner, realize his passion for movie making and decided to film a feature length film. With virtually no money and armed with our imaginations, we were able to put together our first film, “The Final Project.” From there, another friend who was a theatre actor, decided to reach out for help on a web series that he was writing and starring in. “In Good Standing” became my first set that I found myself surrounded by people that had some idea of what they were doing.

My passion burned brightly and because of these projects, I learned quite a lot on these first sets. In college, even though I was a declared Chemistry Major, I was president of the Disciples of Improv club and helping my friends make their student films. I knew my future was in movies, I just couldn’t see it yet. With that knowledge ingrained in me, I decided to formally partner up with Sean Mullen (The Final Project) and form Screenburn Productions in late 2014.

Together, Sean and I worked on a couple of projects at Harford Community College that were unsatisfactory to us. We were constantly frustrated at the lack of passion in fellow students and the reception our subpar efforts were receiving. In late 2015 we set our sights on the Appalachian Mountains in Garrett County, Maryland for our next project, "Wintergreen." Wintergreen was written with the effort to tell a complete story with action rather than dialogue, a first for us. The short film marked my first attempt at a festival run, and the film screened at a couple local Maryland film festivals including the Reel Independent Film Extravaganza in Washington DC and the Queen City Film Festival in Cumberland, MD.

After leaving college in 2016, I decided to take advantage of an opportunity and try freelance work. I managed to find myself on the set of a feature film, “The Turtle Dreamers”, where I met John McClung, who was the Director of Photography. John has been a veteran of the film industry since the late 1970’s and owns Big Dog Video Productions. I decided to freelance with John to learn from him and hopefully get experience using his equipement. After The Turtle Dreamers set, John and I traveled all over the DMV area doing all types of gigs. Soon, John knew he could trust me to be more than a grip and I began to take on Gaffing and direct Camera duties.

The next year and a half, I would shoot with John while using that knowledge to continue my own projects with Screenburn Productions. In addition to doing student films at Towson University, we have also participated in the Frederick 72 Hour Film Festival every year since 2016. Just two years later, I managed to start working for Remsberg Inc, a photography company based in Fallston, Maryland.

Being the only person involved in video production, I found myself challenged and rose to the occasion. We worked closely with the Maryland Department of Agriculture and I was the primary force in creating videos for Maryland State Council of the Arts Maryland’s Best and Maryland’s Traditions programs. We are also very close with the University of Maryland and I was lucky enough to have been able to cover several events hosted there.

My journey in the industry has been full of adventure and many exciting memories. I have gained many skills I would not have dreamed of learning a decade ago. I now specialize in skills behind the camera such as lighting, directing, writing, and editing. However, I enjoy acting when a role attracts my attention.
